These business cards caught my eye for a couple of reasons. Rather than just being simple, flat business cards, this artist has decided to incorporate her passion as a photographer into her design. By re-creating the iconic polaroid picture frame, within her design, it's allowing for a small portfolio piece to be exhibited when every card is given out. This is a really great way to promote yourself, in a fairly simple fashion.
Postcard Portfolio
This is a really nice way to present a CV, with a poster that not only works well as a solid piece of art, but is informative and is a great self promotional device. I think having a poster fold out along with my zine could be a really nice way of covering a lot of different graphic design bases amongst print. Also, with double sided printing, you can feature a larger piece of work as an exclusive print giveaway.
These business cards really caught my eye! I really like the red lining on the cards and the personal touch of having 'field notes' on the back for people to fill in. Despite it's novelty factor, I don't feel that it's very good for promotion however, since there's no real way for that message to get back to you unless the cards are left - defeating the purpose of business cards! However, it's inspired me to look into something that's a little more 'interactive' for my own self promotion.
This is a really interesting take on portfolio and self promotional items. Using a newspaper layout as a template, this designer has created a portfolio and CV in a simple newspaper format for distribution. This is a really nice way to differentiate yourself from the crowd - as I've found that having a large newspaper can dominate people's viewpoint, making a lot more impact than something smaller for example. It can however backfire slightly by being too big for some people to feel like they can accomodate, thus leaving it rather than taking it for later viewing.
Postcards are a really great way of communicating design, in a simple format. Creating a set of postcards and distributing that not only creates something that people can use (for example, as artwork in their own homes and studios - I always like leaving exhibitions with a bag of 'goodies' for use to inspire me at home), but also creates great advertising for yourself through viral marketing.
This is a really neat little set of self promotion. I really like the idea of creating a 'pack' with lots of different self promotional material in it, such as a CV, a small portfolio booklet, a CD with digital information, business card and then other promotional items such as badges and stickers for example. By having a 'kit', it can cover all bases and allow for a thorough and distinct first impression to a potential employer for example.
